How does receipt scanning work?
Take a photo of your receipt and Split sends the image to an AI model (Anthropic Claude) which extracts merchant, line items, totals, currency, and date. The image stays on the expense; nothing is shared with advertisers or used for training.
Can I split an item between only some people?
Yes. Tap any line item on a scanned receipt and assign it to specific people, or use the "Adjust" option to set custom percentages or exact amounts.
What happens if a member leaves a group?
Their expenses and settlements remain in the group history for audit purposes, but they are removed from active balance calculations.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On the web, open Settings → Plans → Manage. On iOS or Android, manage subscriptions through your device settings (App Store → your account → Subscriptions, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions).
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings → "Delete account" while signed in. Deletion is immediate and removes your profile, expenses, settlements, and group memberships. Some records may be retained in encrypted backups for up to 90 days.
Why does Split need my contacts permission?
It only asks when you tap "Add from contacts" while creating a Quick Split. The contact you pick fills a name and phone or email field locally — Split does not upload your address book.
